Anisotamia ruficornis was described by Macquart in 1840.[2] Recent cladistic analysis of the subfamily Lomatiinae suggests that the genus Anisotamia should be considered a junior synonym of Lomatia Meigen, 1822, and proposes the new combination Lomatia ruficornis to ensure the monophyly of the genus Lomatia.[3]
