Angioneura cyrtoneurina, commonly known as the Dark Least Blowfly, exhibits morphological characteristics typical of the family Calliphoridae. Based on observations of preserved specimens, the species displays a robust, fly-like body structure with a dark, often metallic or dull-toned coloration. The thorax and abdomen are covered in fine, dense setae (bristles), which are characteristic of many blowflies. The wings are membranous and clear, with distinct venation patterns typical of the order Diptera.[1]
Angioneura cyrtoneurina was originally described by the entomologist J.W. Zetterstedt in 1859 under the name Tachina cyrtoneurina.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Angioneura.[2]
