Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Androprosopa lindsayorum exhibits the characteristic morphology of the family Thaumaleidae.[1] The adult specimen displays a stalky body structure and broad, well-developed wings, consistent with the general appearance of trickle midges.[2]
Androprosopa lindsayorum is a member of the family Thaumaleidae, commonly referred to as seepage or trickle midges.[2] Like other members of this family, the species is associated with madicolous habitats, which are characterized by thin films of water flowing over rock surfaces, such as waterfall margins and stream seepages.[2]
The species was originally described as Thaumalea lindsayorum by Arnaud and Boussy in 1994.[3] It is currently classified within the genus Androprosopa Mik, 1898.[2] Identification of species within this genus relies primarily on the examination of male terminalia.[2]
