Andrenosoma xanthocnema, commonly known as the Texas Chiselmouth, is a species of robber fly within the family Asilidae.[2] Observations of specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a robust, hairy body typical of the genus Andrenosoma.[1] The flies exhibit a dark, often blackish coloration across the thorax and abdomen, which is densely covered in fine, hair-like setae. The legs are notably robust, and in many individuals, the tibiae display a distinct yellowish or orange coloration, which is a characteristic feature often reflected in the specific epithet xanthocnema (meaning "yellow-legged").[1]
