Ancorina corticata is represented in museum material images as a preserved sponge specimen (invertebrate zoology collection images). GBIF treats Ancorina corticata Lévi, 1964 as an accepted species record (GBIF taxon key 5182652).[2]
A Zootaxa paper reports a new record of Ancorina corticata from Walters Shoal, a shallow seamount on the Madagascar Ridge in the South West Indian Ocean (SWIO), within broader survey results for heteroscleromorph demosponges and other tetractinellid occurrences on the seamount.[3]
