Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits a compact, robust body form typical of many chloropids.[1] The specimens display a dark, often blackish or brownish coloration on the thorax and abdomen, with distinct, clear wings that are held flat over the abdomen when at rest.[1]
Anatrichus pygmaeus has been identified as an insect predator associated with the rice skipper, Pelopidas thrax (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae), in rice fields in Egypt.[2]
