Visual Description
Anatella longisetosa is a species of fungus gnat within the family Mycetophilidae. Based on examination of preserved specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits typical characteristics of the genus Anatella.[1] The specimens display slender, elongated bodies and long, delicate legs, which are characteristic of many mycetophilids. The wings are generally clear and membranous, with venation patterns typical of the family. Due to the nature of the preserved specimens, fine details such as exact coloration and setal patterns are difficult to resolve, but the overall morphology is consistent with the slender, fragile habitus of the genus.[1]
Biology and Ecology
Anatella longisetosa was described by H. Dziedzicki in 1923.[2][3] It is an accepted species within the genus Anatella.[3]
Regarding its ecological interactions, records indicate that Anatella longisetosa has been documented as being preyed upon by the orthopteran Conocephalus dorsalis.[4]
