Based on observations of preserved specimens, Anastrepha turpiniae exhibits the characteristic body form of the genus Anastrepha. The specimens display a distinct, patterned wing venation typical of tephritid fruit flies, with brownish markings visible on the wing membrane. The body coloration is generally yellowish-brown, consistent with many members of this genus. These morphological traits are observable in specimens documented in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset.[1]
Anastrepha turpiniae has been documented as a host for the parasitoid wasp Doryctobracon areolatus. This ecological association was identified during research conducted in a caatinga-cerrado ecotone in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, where the parasitoid was observed emerging from the puparia of the fruit fly.[2]
