Anastrepha ramosa is a species of fruit fly within the family Tephritidae. Observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal characteristic features of the genus.[1] The specimens exhibit the typical body form of Anastrepha fruit flies, characterized by a distinct, patterned wing venation and a robust thorax. The wings display the characteristic dark, branched markings that are diagnostic for many species in this genus. The body coloration is generally yellowish-brown, consistent with other members of the Anastrepha complex.
Anastrepha ramosa was described by Stone in 1942.[2] Research into fruit fly diversity in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil has highlighted the importance of these habitats for maintaining Anastrepha species assemblages.[3] Environmental modifications, such as the conversion of native vegetation to commercial orchards, have been shown to negatively impact the diversity and abundance of these fruit fly populations.[3]
