Anastrepha minensis is a species of fruit fly within the family Tephritidae. While specific morphological traits are often subtle in this genus, A. minensis is noted for having more than 100 hook-like dorsobasal denticles on its eversible membrane, a characteristic that helps distinguish it from related species such as A. manizaliensis.[2]
Anastrepha minensis was described by A.M.C. Lima in 1937.[3] It is recognized as a valid species within the genus Anastrepha.[3] The species is morphologically similar to several others in the fraterculus species group, including A. ludens, A. distincta, A. schultzi, A. inca, and A. manizaliensis.[2]
