Based on observations of preserved specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Anastrepha leptozona exhibits typical tephritid morphology.[1] The specimens display the characteristic wing venation and patterned wing markings common to the genus Anastrepha. The body structure is consistent with other members of the family, featuring a distinct head, thorax, and abdomen, with the characteristic ovipositor structure visible in female specimens.[1]
Anastrepha leptozona has been identified as a fruit-infesting species. In a survey conducted on Ilha de Santana, Amapá State, Brazil, between January and July 2005, this species was recorded emerging from Pouteria caimito (abiu) fruits.[2] This study established P. caimito as a host for A. leptozona in the state of Amapá.[2] No parasitoids were observed emerging from the larvae collected during this survey.[2]
