Anastrepha fractura is a species of fruit fly within the family Tephritidae. Observations of preserved specimens reveal characteristic tephritid morphology, including a distinct, patterned wing venation typical of the genus Anastrepha[1]. The body exhibits the robust, sclerotized structure common to many members of this group, with visible thoracic and abdominal segments[1].
Anastrepha fractura was described by Stone in 1942[2]. In Brazil, the species has been documented in the state of Amazonas, and more recently, it has been recorded in the state of Roraima, representing a new geographical record for that region[3]. Voucher specimens from these surveys have been deposited in the Laboratório de Entomologia Econômica of the Instituto Biológico in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil[3].
