Based on observations of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Anastrepha flavipennis exhibits the characteristic morphology of the genus Anastrepha.[1] The specimens display the typical tephritid wing venation pattern, with distinct, darkened markings across the wing membrane. The body structure is consistent with other members of the family, featuring a robust thorax and abdomen. Due to the nature of the preserved specimens, finer morphological details such as setal patterns or specific ovipositor characteristics are not readily resolvable in these images.[1]
Anastrepha flavipennis was described by C.T. Greene in 1934.[2] Recent entomological surveys have provided new distribution records for this species in Colombia.[3]
