Anastrepha elegans is a species of fruit fly within the family Tephritidae. Based on examination of preserved specimens, the species exhibits the characteristic morphology of the genus Anastrepha. The body is generally yellowish-brown in coloration. The wings are typically patterned with characteristic brown bands, which are diagnostic for many species within this genus.[1]
Anastrepha elegans was described by E.E. Blanchard in 1937.[2] It is recognized as an accepted species within the genus Anastrepha, which belongs to the tribe Toxotrypanini in the subfamily Trypetinae.[3]
