Anastrepha edentata is a small, yellow-brown fruit fly.[2] Observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal characteristic wing patterns typical of the genus, with distinct dark, sclerotized venation and pigmentation patterns across the wing membrane.[1] Females are distinguished by a long, slender ovipositor sheath and a very slender ovipositor.[2]
Anastrepha edentata has been recorded in Florida (specifically from Key Largo to Key West and in the Redlands, Dade County) and Puerto Rico.[2] Although it was historically collected in Florida throughout the year, it has not been documented in the state since 1936, suggesting it may no longer be established there.[2]
The life history and host plants of A. edentata remain unknown.[2] The species is not considered to be of economic importance within its range.[2]
