Based on examination of museum specimens, Anastrepha curitis exhibits the characteristic body form of the genus Anastrepha. The specimens display a typical tephritid wing venation pattern and body coloration consistent with the genus, including a generally yellowish-brown body.[1]
Anastrepha curitis was described by Alan Stone in 1942.[2] Research has utilized integrative approaches to clarify the identity of specimens within this group, distinguishing A. curitis from other similar species such as Anastrepha dissimilis.[3] Additionally, the egg morphology of this species has been documented using scanning electron microscopy.[3]
