Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Anastrepha coronilli exhibits the characteristic morphology of the genus Anastrepha.[1] The specimens display a typical tephritid body plan, characterized by a robust thorax and abdomen. The wings feature the complex, dark, reticulated banding patterns commonly found in this genus, which are diagnostic for species identification. The body coloration is generally yellowish-brown, consistent with other members of the Anastrepha group.
Anastrepha coronilli was formally described by Carrejo and González in 1993.[2] The species has been recorded in the Cochabamba department of Bolivia, specifically within the Tiraque and Carrasco provinces.[3]
Field collections have documented the species at various locations in Cochabamba, including Germán Busch in Tiraque, and Cruce Vueltadero, San Benito, Gualberto Villarroel, Manco Kapac, Rio Ichoa, and Rio Blanco in Carrasco.[3] Specimens have been successfully collected using McPhail traps at elevations ranging from approximately 221 to 241 meters.[3]
