Based on examination of preserved specimens, Anastrepha caudata exhibits characteristic features of the genus Anastrepha. The body displays the typical tephritid form, with a distinct, patterned wing venation pattern common to the group. The thorax and abdomen show pigmentation patterns consistent with other members of the genus.[1]
Anastrepha caudata is a species of fruit fly within the family Tephritidae. It was described by Alan Stone in 1942.[2] While the genus Anastrepha is well-studied due to its agricultural importance, specific ecological data for A. caudata is limited in some regional biodiversity surveys. For instance, it was not among the species identified in a study of Anastrepha biodiversity conducted at the Luiz de Queiroz campus in Piracicaba, São Paulo, Brazil.[3]
