Anastrepha aczeli is a small fly, consistent with the general morphology of the genus Anastrepha. Based on examination of museum specimens, the body exhibits a predominantly yellowish-brown coloration. The wings are hyaline (clear) with characteristic brownish patterns typical of the genus, though these details are best observed under magnification. The compound eyes are prominent and reddish-brown in preserved specimens.[1]
Anastrepha aczeli was described by Blanchard in 1961.[2]
In a study conducted in an orchard in Bambuí, Minas Gerais, Brazil, between November 2011 and August 2012, A. aczeli was identified, marking the first record of this species in the state of Minas Gerais.[3] During this survey, the species was classified as constant within the sampled citrus orchard.[3] Despite its presence in the area, the specific host plants for A. aczeli have not been determined, as it was not observed developing within the fruits sampled during the study.[3]
