Based on observations of museum specimens, Anastomyza specularis exhibits typical dipteran morphology. The specimens show a robust, brownish-colored body with distinct, clear wings. The thorax and abdomen are well-defined, and the legs are relatively slender. These observations are consistent with specimens cataloged in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset.[1]
Anastomyza specularis was described by J. R. Malloch in 1933, as documented in his work on the Acalyptrata of Patagonia and South Chile.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Anastomyza and the family Heleomyzidae.[2]
