Anastomyza lateralis is a dipteran species within the family Heleomyzidae. Based on observations of museum specimens, the species exhibits typical acalyptrate fly morphology. The body is generally slender, with a brownish to yellowish coloration. The wings are well-developed and clear, showing characteristic venation patterns typical of the family. The head features prominent compound eyes and distinct antennae.[1]
Anastomyza lateralis was described by the entomologist J.R. Malloch in 1933. The description was published in his work on the Acalyptrata of Patagonia and South Chile.[2]
