Visual Description
Anasimyia perfidiosus is a species of hoverfly within the family Syrphidae. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that these insects exhibit typical syrphid morphology, characterized by a distinct, often bee-like or wasp-like appearance, which is common among members of the tribe Eristalini.[1] Visible traits include a robust, hairy thorax and a patterned abdomen, which are diagnostic features for many species in this genus.[1]
Classification and History
Anasimyia perfidiosus was originally described by W.D. Hunter in 1897 as Pterallastes perfidiosus.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Anasimyia.[2]
