Description
Anasimyia diffusa is a species of hover fly (family Syrphidae) that was described as new to science in 2019.[2] It is commonly referred to as the "Smooth-legged Swamp Fly".[2]
Visual Description
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Anasimyia diffusa exhibits characteristic features of the genus Anasimyia.[1] The flies display a distinct abdominal pattern with alternating dark and light markings, typical of many syrphids. The wings are clear and held in a characteristic position while at rest. The body is generally slender, and the head features large, prominent compound eyes.[1]
