Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Analcocerus taurus exhibits characteristic features of the family Stratiomyidae.[1] The specimens display a distinct, somewhat flattened body form typical of many soldier flies. The coloration includes a combination of dark, metallic-toned areas on the thorax and abdomen, contrasted with lighter, yellowish or translucent markings on the wings and legs. The wings are often held flat over the abdomen when at rest, showing characteristic venation patterns.
Analcocerus taurus is a species of soldier fly in the family Stratiomyidae.[2] It was formally described by Maurice T. James in 1943 as part of his studies on Neotropical Stratiomyidae, specifically within the classification of the subfamily Rhaphiocerinae.[2]
