Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Analcocerus exhibit characteristic features of the family Stratiomyidae.[1] The specimens display a distinct, somewhat flattened body shape typical of many soldier flies. The wings are often held flat over the abdomen when at rest. The coloration observed includes metallic or dark tones, which are common within the family.
