Visual Description
Anaeropsis guttipennis is a stilt-legged fly characterized by a slender, elongated body form typical of the family Micropezidae. Observations from available imagery indicate that the species possesses notably long, thin legs and a distinctively patterned wing structure. The wings exhibit dark, mottled or spotted markings across the membrane, which is consistent with the specific epithet guttipennis (meaning "spotted wing"). The body coloration is generally dark, and the head features prominent, stalk-like structures supporting the eyes, a trait often associated with this group of flies.[1]
Taxonomy and History
Anaeropsis guttipennis was originally described by Francis Walker in 1861 under the name Phytalmia guttipennis.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Anaeropsis.[2]
