Overview
Anaclileia is a genus of fungus gnats in the family Mycetophilidae. The genus was described by the entomologist Frédéric Meunier in 1904.[2]
Visual Description
Based on examination of museum specimen images from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Anaclileia exhibit the characteristic body form of fungus gnats.[1] They possess slender, elongated bodies and long, delicate legs typical of the family Mycetophilidae. The wings are generally clear or lightly tinted, with distinct venation patterns characteristic of the group. The thorax is often arched, and the head features prominent, well-developed eyes.[1]
Ecology
Interactions recorded for Anaclileia include instances of predation. Specifically, Anaclileia beshovskii has been documented as being preyed upon by the meadow grasshopper Conocephalus dorsalis.[3]
