Visual Description
Anacamptomyia africana is a fly characterized by a robust, bristly appearance typical of many tachinids. Observations from dataset imagery reveal a body covered in numerous dark, prominent setae (bristles), particularly on the thorax and abdomen. The compound eyes are large and reddish in color. The wings are clear with distinct venation patterns. The overall coloration of the body is a muted, brownish-grey, which provides a degree of camouflage.[1]
Distribution and Classification
Anacamptomyia africana was described by the entomologist J. Bischof in 1904.[2] It is a member of the family Tachinidae, a large and diverse group of flies known for their parasitic larvae.[3]
