Visual Description
Based on examination of museum specimens, Anabarhynchus wisei exhibits the characteristic body form of the family Therevidae, often referred to as stiletto flies. The specimens display a slender, elongated abdomen typical of the genus Anabarhynchus. The body is covered in fine, dense setae (hairs), which are a common feature in this family. The coloration appears muted, consistent with many therevid species that blend into their environment.[1]
Distribution and Taxonomy
Anabarhynchus wisei was described by entomologist Leif Lyneborg in 1992. The species is recognized as an accepted name within the genus Anabarhynchus.[2]
