Visual Description
Anabarhynchus megaphallus is a species of stiletto fly. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit the characteristic slender, elongated body form typical of the family Therevidae.[1] The specimens display a distinct pattern of coloration on the thorax and abdomen, with a generally muted, brownish or greyish appearance that provides camouflage in their natural environment.[1]
Distribution and Classification
Anabarhynchus megaphallus was described by Leif Lyneborg in 2001.[2] It is recognized as a valid species within the Anabarhynchus genus-group, which is a significant component of the Australian stiletto-fly fauna.[3]
