Visual Description
Based on observations of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Anabarhynchus glorious exhibits the characteristic body form of the family Therevidae, commonly known as stiletto flies.[1] The specimens display a slender, elongated abdomen typical of the genus. The thorax and abdomen are covered in fine, dense setae (hairs). The wings are clear and held in a characteristic position along the body. Due to the nature of the preserved museum specimens, finer diagnostic morphological traits such as specific wing venation patterns or detailed antennal structure are not clearly resolved in these images.[1]
Distribution and Classification
Anabarhynchus glorious was described by Leif Lyneborg in 2001.[2] It is a recognized species within the genus Anabarhynchus, which is part of the stiletto fly family, Therevidae.[2]
