Visual Description
In observational and museum imagery associated with Amphimedon compressa, the species is depicted as a red “rope sponge,” with an erect, rope-like or finger-like overall form (commonly labeled “Erect Rope Sponge” in occurrence media metadata). The sponge surface appears firm and tightly organized into bundled structures rather than as a thin sheet.
