Visual Description
Ampelomyia vitiscoryloides is primarily recognized by the distinctive galls it induces on grapevines, which are often referred to as "grape filbert galls."[3] Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset show these galls as clustered, spherical to ovoid structures that develop on the plant tissue.[2] The galls often exhibit a textured, sometimes slightly hairy or irregular surface, and can vary in color from green to reddish-brown as they mature.[2]
