This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Amobia floridensis is a fly species within the family Sarcophagidae. Observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that these flies possess typical sarcophagid morphology, characterized by a robust body structure.[1] Due to the nature of the preserved specimens, specific coloration patterns are difficult to resolve in detail, though the general form is consistent with other members of the genus.[1]
Amobia floridensis is known to act as a natural enemy of various solitary wasps. Research conducted at the Parque Estadual da Ilha Anchieta in Brazil identified this species as a significant parasite of wasps nesting in trap-nests.[2] In this study, it was the most abundant natural enemy recorded, responsible for 58.3% of all attacked brood cells.[2] It has been observed parasitizing nests of wasps in the genera Trypoxylon, Pachodynerus, and Podium.[2]
