Visual Description
Amiota sinuata is a member of the genus Amiota, which is generally characterized by the presence of distinct, milky white spots on the face, postpronotal lobe, and wing base, although exceptions exist. Members of this genus typically possess a dark brown to black clypeus, a broad and dorso-ventrally flattened aedeagal apodeme, and short, peg-like anterior sensilla on the medial cibarials [2].
Biology and Classification
Amiota sinuata was described by T. Okada in 1968 [3]. It is recognized as a distinct species within the genus Amiota and is associated with the A. sinuata species-group, which is noted as an endemic group of the Oriental Region [2].
