Visual Description
Amiota humeralis is a small fly characteristic of the family Drosophilidae. Observations of specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a compact body structure typical of the genus Amiota.[1] The specimens exhibit a dark, sclerotized thorax and abdomen, with wings that appear clear or lightly tinted. The head is relatively large in proportion to the body, featuring prominent compound eyes.[1]
Distribution and Classification
Amiota humeralis was described by the entomologist Hermann Loew in 1862.[2] The species is formally recognized within the genus Amiota and is part of the family Drosophilidae.[2] The original description was published in Diptera Americae septentrionalis indigena. Centuria secunda.[2]
