Based on observations of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Amiota barretti exhibits characteristic features of the genus.[1] The specimens show a small, fly-like body typical of Drosophilidae. Visible traits include a rounded thorax and a distinct head with prominent compound eyes. The wings are clear and membranous, extending beyond the abdomen. The legs are slender and segmented. Classification and History
Amiota barretti was originally described by Charles Willison Johnson in 1921 as Stegana barretti.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Amiota.[2]
