Amiota balaenodentata is a species of fly within the family Drosophilidae. It was formally described by Takada, Beppu, and Toda in 1979.[2]
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Amiota balaenodentata exhibits the characteristic body plan of the family Drosophilidae.[1] The specimens display a small, robust body with prominent compound eyes and clear, membranous wings typical of the order Diptera. The thorax and abdomen show pigmentation patterns consistent with the genus Amiota. Due to the resolution of the available imagery, finer diagnostic morphological structures such as specific setal patterns or genitalia cannot be definitively resolved.[1]
