Visual Description
Amenia albomaculata is a member of the family Calliphoridae, commonly known as blow flies. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that this species exhibits a metallic, often iridescent, coloration typical of many Amenia species.[1] The abdomen typically features distinct, pale or white-colored spots or markings, which are characteristic of the species and contribute to its specific epithet, albomaculata.[1]
Taxonomic History
The species was described as Amenia albomaculata (Crosskey, 1965) and later reviewed by Colless in 1998.[2][3] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Amenia.[3]
