Visual Description
Amblypsilopus tozerensis is a species of long-legged fly within the family Dolichopodidae. Observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal characteristic features of the genus, including a slender, elongated body form typical of the subfamily Sciapodinae.[1] The specimens exhibit long, thin legs and wings that are held in a characteristic position relative to the thorax. The overall coloration appears metallic, a common trait among many species in this genus.[1]
Distribution and Classification
Amblypsilopus tozerensis was described by Daniel J. Bickel in 1994.[2] It is recognized as an accepted species within the genus Amblypsilopus.[2] The species was formally published in the Records of the Australian Museum Supplement, as part of a comprehensive review of the Australian Sciapodinae.[2]
