Visual Description
Amblypsilopus rosaceus is a member of the family Dolichopodidae, a group commonly known as long-legged flies. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that the species exhibits a slender body form typical of the genus, with notably elongated legs.[1] The thorax is predominantly yellow in coloration.[2]
Biology and Distribution
Amblypsilopus rosaceus (Wiedemann, 1824) belongs to the subfamily Sciapodinae.[2] Males of this species are distinguished by a filiform cercus that is approximately three times the length of the hypopygium and is covered in short hairs.[2] The species is known to occur in South Africa.[2]
