Amblypsilopus rimbija is a species of long-legged fly within the family Dolichopodidae. Observations of preserved specimens indicate that individuals possess the characteristic slender, elongated body form typical of the genus Amblypsilopus. The specimens exhibit long, thin legs and clear, membranous wings that extend beyond the abdomen. The thorax and abdomen display a metallic coloration, which is a common trait among members of the subfamily Sciapodinae.[1]
Amblypsilopus rimbija was described by Daniel J. Bickel in 1994. The species is recognized as an accepted name within the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) database.[2] The original description was published in the Records of the Australian Museum Supplement, as part of a comprehensive review of the Australian Sciapodinae.[2]
