Based on observations of preserved specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Amblypsilopus rentzi exhibits the characteristic slender, elongated body form typical of the subfamily Sciapodinae.[1] The specimens display long, thin legs and wings that extend beyond the abdomen. The body coloration appears metallic, consistent with many members of the genus Amblypsilopus.[1]
Amblypsilopus rentzi is a species of long-legged fly in the family Dolichopodidae. It was formally described by Daniel J. Bickel in 1994.[2] The species is recognized as an accepted name within the genus Amblypsilopus.[2]
