Amblypsilopus fortescuia is a species of long-legged fly within the family Dolichopodidae. Based on examination of preserved specimens, the species exhibits the characteristic slender body form typical of the genus Amblypsilopus. The specimens show elongated, thin legs and clear, membranous wings, which are diagnostic features of many members of the subfamily Sciapodinae.[1]
Amblypsilopus fortescuia was described by the entomologist Daniel J. Bickel in 1994. The species is recognized as an accepted name within the genus Amblypsilopus.[2] Its original description was published in the Records of the Australian Museum Supplement, as part of a comprehensive review of the Australian Sciapodinae.[2]
