Visual Description
Amblypsilopus bicolor is a small fly characteristic of the family Dolichopodidae. Observations of preserved specimens reveal a slender, elongated body form typical of the genus Amblypsilopus. The specimens exhibit long, thin legs and wings that extend beyond the abdomen. The coloration appears generally metallic or iridescent, a common trait among many dolichopodids, with distinct, slender thoracic and abdominal segments.[1]
Biology and Classification
Amblypsilopus bicolor was originally described by Hermann Loew in 1861 as Psilopus bicolor.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Amblypsilopus.[2]
