Visual Description
Amblypsilopus bereni is a small, slender fly characteristic of the family Dolichopodidae. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset reveal a metallic, often iridescent body coloration, which is typical for many species within the genus Amblypsilopus.[1] The specimens exhibit long, thin legs and wings that are held in a characteristic position, often extending beyond the abdomen. Amblypsilopus bereni was described by the entomologist Daniel J. Bickel in 1994.[2] The species is recognized as an accepted name within the Amblypsilopus genus, which is part of the subfamily Sciapodinae.[2] The original description was published in the Records of the Australian Museum Supplement, as part of a comprehensive review of the Australian Sciapodinae and the broader Oriental and Australasian faunas.[2]
