Based on observations of preserved specimens, Amblypsilopus babindensis exhibits the characteristic slender, elongated body form typical of the subfamily Sciapodinae. The specimens display long, thin legs and wings that are held in a characteristic position relative to the thorax. The body coloration appears metallic, consistent with many members of the genus Amblypsilopus.[1]
Amblypsilopus babindensis was described by Daniel J. Bickel in 1994. The species is part of the Australian fauna, as detailed in his comprehensive review of the Australian Sciapodinae.[2]
