Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Amaurosoma brunneicosta exhibits the characteristic body plan of a small, slender fly.[1] The specimens display a generally elongated abdomen and distinct, well-developed wings that extend beyond the posterior end of the body. The thorax and abdomen show a brownish coloration, consistent with the species name. The legs are relatively thin and appear to have fine, sparse setae.[1]
