Visual Description
Amauromyza verbasci is a small fly characteristic of the family Agromyzidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the adult exhibits a generally dark, often blackish or brownish body coloration. The wings are typically clear and membranous, with distinct venation patterns typical of the order Diptera. The head features prominent compound eyes and relatively short antennae.[1]
Ecology and Interactions
Amauromyza verbasci (Bouché, 1847) is a phytophagous insect. Research conducted in urban environments in Slovakia between 2005 and 2008 recorded this species in association with ornamental woody plants.[2] It has also been documented to interact with the plant Buddleja davidii.[3] Additionally, A. verbasci serves as a host for the parasitoid wasp Chrysocharis amyite.[3]
