Visual Description
Amauromyza pleuralis is a species of fly within the family Agromyzidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit the characteristic body form of small acalyptrate flies.[1] They typically possess a dark, often black or brownish, thorax and abdomen. The wings are generally clear and membranous, with distinct venation typical of the family. The head is relatively small, with prominent compound eyes.
Biology and Classification
Amauromyza pleuralis was originally described by the entomologist John Russell Malloch in 1914 as Agromyza pleuralis.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Amauromyza.[2]
